When it rains, it pours!

A few days ago I made the spontaneous decision to visit cousins Erick, Lauren, Lexie and Emma this weekend. I just love spontaneity... So Lauren helped me schedule a flight from Cape Girardeau to St. Louisthen on to Kirksville from there! It was a brilliant plan to get there without having to drive...PLUS Aunt Robyn and Uncle Larry were going to pick me up on Monday & visit their girls! My flight would leave Cape at 4:10 and i would arrive in Kirksville at 6:45. It would be the smoothest and easiest way to Kirksville!! Sounds like a weekend full of family fun, right?

Wrong!! As I sit in the airport in Cape, I contemplate just how good the original plan was...in theory it was great. What none of us had taken into consideration was HURRICANE ISAAC. Apparently planes can't fly in storms...that's news to me! My day has gone like this:

1:45 PM - Leave Poplar Bluff with 2 Larry Hillis drivers.
3:09 PM - Arrive at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport
4:10 PM - Scheduled Flight Departure Time....DELAYED...bummer
4:30 PM - New Departure Time...DELAYED...double bummer
5:00 PM - We get word that The flight will be delayed at least 1 hr due to Tornado Warnings in St. Louis
5:40 PM - Connection Flight time...OBVIOUSLY missed this flight!!
6:07 PM - FLIGHTS CANCELLED!!! Cape Air offers ground transportation to St. Louis Airport where there will not be another flight until 10:25 AM on Saturday morning!
7:10 PM - Still waiting in airport terminal for shuttle to arrive!!
7:15 PM - FINALLY WE HAVE A SHUTTLE!!! Now we are being bused to the Airport where we will be given our hotel vouchers for the evening!

All-in-all Cape Air did more than they had to, but needless to say, there were a few bumps in the road!! Haha. A big shout out to Jesse for taking care of us!!! :-)

Erick, Lauren, Lexie, Emma...I'll see you soon!!!! I am seriously more excited than ever to see my family!

Trello!

I am so excited! I found this new website called Trello.com. It is a virtual task manager that allows you to create boards (lists), add items to do (like index cards), add members to a board, assign tasks, create due dates and even connect with member conversations on the back of individual cards! This is a really neat site that has helped streamline my life...I mean literally, MY LIFE!!! I have been more organized and 10x more productive than before. I'm so happy to have Suc a useful tool in my back pocket! :-)

Check it out at Trello.com!

The Greatest Nation in the World...

Dad and I just got back from Colorado. We flew out to get my things gathered up and stuffed in a u-haul! Before we left, we stopped in Colorado Springs to see some friends. Wednesday the 27th we experienced the most exhilarating demonstration of patriotism...ever! We went to the United States Air Force Academy Graduation where our friend Brad Chronister received his Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Wow! Can you imagine how great of an honor it was to be sitting in the same stadium as some of the most brilliant minds of my generation?!

From the marching in of the newly commissioned lieutenants to the encouraging address given by the Vice President, the day was a display of the bright future of this great country I am so privileged to call home. Words cannot describe the overwhelming sense of respect I have for those men and women who will soon lead our nation. God gave each of them a unique gift that will be used to defend our homeland! I tip my hat to these amazing people and wish them the best of luck as we send them into an uncertain future. In the meantime, we will all continue to keep them lifted up as they embark on the next big step in life....being grown up! I can definitely attest to the fear they will feel in the coming months!

I'm a Blogger!

Well, I have finally entered the world of blogging. I'm kind of excited about it! What in the world am I supposed write?

Hmm...I have it. I want you all to know what is going on in my life....

Home. Well I'm here. I'm back in good ole' Poplar Bluff, Missouri once again. I never thought the day would come, but it has. The day that I returned home...I was actually excited to be here. Isn't it amazing how much change can happen in a persons life, yet, the things that have always been a 'constant' continue being a 'constant' no matter where life takes you. Take my life for instance. I went to Colorado on the adventure of a lifetime to return home only 6 months later realizing that my family, friends, and this place I call 'home' are still here. Although they may have changed slightly they are still my family, my friends and my home. Boy did I take those things for granted before.

Faith. God can do great things. You just have to be willing and open to his plan. I can now say that without a doubt I have been changed...for the better. And I owe it all to the grace of God and his perfect plan for my little life in this great big world. I can honestly say that if you have never been to Colorado...go...if you don't feel the presence of God there might be something wrong with you! I honestly think you can't get any closer to a little slice of heaven. The picture you see above is, well, my heaven. Being away from everything I had ever known was a challenge, but places like that brought me closer to home than I'd ever been. I'm so excited to see where God takes me next...oh yeah...First United Methodist Church has asked me to be the Interim Youth Director for the summer. WHOOO!!! I cannot wait to form relationships with those kids. I believe without a doubt that God made me to invest His immaculate love in the lives of others...talk about a love. That is the greatest love ever!

Work. I am now working at Larry Hillis Dodge. Yep, that's right. I am trying to hold my own in the big automotive world! I like it. You are reading about the newest Marketing Director. From ads and commercials to remotes and events, I do it all. If you have any questions about us...well, I guess you can contact me. =) Just remember us when you look to buy your new vehicle!
